As reported in iGaming Business, the New Jersey Department of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has confirmed November 26 as the launch date for real-money online gambling in the US state. All approved operators that wish to launch real-money online gaming services will need to go through a soft-launch, five-day trial period, which will begin on November 21 before the official launch.
New Jersey is the third US state to enact online wagering alongside Nevada and Delaware and in all three states (plus any future states that come online), verifying the location of a patron at the time they place a bet is a critical part of the strict and complex regulations.
To date, two sites have opened for business in Nevada – Ultimate Poker and Caesars WSOP.com. Both sites use Locaid's non-spoofable Carrier Network Mobile Location to make sure they meet state requirements. On Thursday, October 15, Locaid and iGaming Business are hosting an exclusive webinar to talk through The Vital Role of Geolocation to US iGaming Market discussing best practice Locaid is implementing with the operational real-money gambling sites operating in the US today.
Subjects covered will include:
- The different geolocation methods: what can and cannot be spoofed
- Hyper-local targeting
- Detailed customer behavior and data analytics
- What igaming can learn from retail best practices
